When the weather is cold…

When the weather is really cold there are some things that our local government provide to keep all people in Wakefield safe and well.

Welcome Spaces

Welcome Spaces are open to you as a free warm, safe place where you can enjoy a hot drink and some company. Everyone has a right to be warm, so expect a warm welcome when you visit.

On the page listed here you can find information on what your local welcome spaces has to offer, as well as a link to find your nearest space.

Emergency places to sleep

Sometimes people who have no place to sleep have to sleep outside in public areas. This is known as “rough sleeping”. Our local government (Wakefield Council) does provide the services listed on the page below to try and help rough sleepers in the district. When the weather is below zero degrees overnight there is a special place to sleep available to rough sleepers.
